Modes of Competition
COMPETITION CAN TAKE MANY FORMS. At the club level there are the low-key, fun formats of the melées and panaches that have been the introductory tournament of choice for so many of us. Next come the local club ladders and friendly rivalries and competitions with nearby clubs.
Open and club tournaments vary in size, scope, format, and intensity. From local, laid-back, potluck panaches to multi-day, high-stakes, prestigious events like Furlan and the Rose City Open, they defy easy classification. Each tournament is truly sui generis. |
FPUSA tournaments carry not only prestige, but the possibility to advance to international competition. The level of play is usually intense and more often than not you will find your everyday game benefits from the challenge.
