About Us

​THE FEDERATION OF PETANQUE USA, INC. (FPUSA), is the official governing body of the sport of pétanque in the US. We're a non-profit federation of clubs whose primary objective is the growth, promotion, and organization of pétanque in America. The FPUSA is a member of the Fédération Internationale de Pétanque et Jeu Provençal (FIPJP), the international governing body of the sport. ​
The FPUSA acts as a liaison between all pétanque players and all pétanque clubs in the US and throughout the world. Check this website for new information about this dynamic sport, which has its roots in France and a flourishing following here in the US. Take a look at our Regions and Clubs page to see if there is a club near you, and if no club is nearby, turn to our Membership page and look into an independent membership​. Our Objectives

  • ​To grow the sport of pétanque in America and raise the awareness of the public with regard to the sport
  • To stimulate creation of new FPUSA clubs, individual, and independent members
  • To promote competition and championships at all levels: Regional, State, National, and International for all men, women, youth, juniors, and senior citizens
  • To introduce pétanque to public and private educational institutions throughout the US
  • To encourage community groups, the US Park Service, and the Park and Recreation Departments of cities to develop pétanque courts in their facilities
  • To publicize pétanque in sport magazines, national, and local newspapers, on radio and television, and in videos
